Disappointing and overpriced. The plate of food you see in my photo cost just over £21, which includes a £2 surcharge for eating in. Maybe if you're sat in a reasonably fancy place this could be justified but for a basic chippie, it was overpriced IMO. The fish was okay, not too thick though but not the thinest I've seen either. Sadly the chips were almost certainly frozen chips and not fresh, hand cut as you would expect in a dedicated chip shop. Also, the mushy peas could have been more generous for the £ 2.80 cost. The staff were very pleasant and friendly but this is not enough to get me back. I totally get overheads are high these days but if you're going to charge high prices you have to deliver impeccable food.

First time we have visited this place since the recent change in management and the experience was extremely disappointing. And is the first time I have given such a low rating for a food place. We visited on a Friday evening (which is usually a busy night for many take-aways). There was plenty of staff on hand, and to place your order and make payment - they are very quick at! Thereafter, it was all largely downhill. We were told the wait would be 30mins….it turned out to be 58mins!! (A number of other customers upon exiting were complaining of similar issues). We got home and found the fish batter and scampi to be over cooked (borderline burnt). It seems this is a recurring issue given other comment reviews. The fish meat was ok as to were the chips. Prices have increased significantly since our last visit, portions of the large chips (£3.80) have decreased as too have the sizes of the fish!! All in favour of supporting local businesses however the service, standards, quality of food and speed of service, needs to significantly increase if this place is to retain local business!

I miss the old management. These guys are cold and don’t know how to conduct themselves. Also, I hate the tiny portions here. Paying WAY too much for large chips to come in a pathetic little box. Nothing like your traditional Fish n Chip shop. We need NEW MANAGEMENT! Response to the business: Your chips are always in boxes. The portions are tiny, as MULTIPLE other people have mentioned. I’m sure you guys won’t be at this location for long, nobody in the neighbouring area is happy.

I ask you which chip shop in this modern 24 hour society closes at 21.30 well the answer is simple Blue Ocean Fish & Chips, But here is the clever bit you don't make this obvious you leave the doors open, you leave the lights on and you leave a sign proudly displayed to the left of the front door proclaiming you to be open. Heaven help some poor individual you wanders in in hope of being fed despite all the indications that they are open for business. They are rudely referred to the not very obvious displayed opening hours. The simple fact is there are many better places to go. I made the mistake of going out of my way to be met with this appallingly poor customer service. I will not make this mistake again and if you have any sense you will do the same, avoid this shambles of a business!!!!

Excellent cod and chips and mushy peas 2 really nice guys run the shop so helpful very clean fish brought in daily all fresh we ate in highly recommended
