Waiters had a nasty, arrogant attitude. Brisket was DRY and flavorless. Food came out plate by plate so eating together at the same time didn't happen. Place is empty ( 2 pm on a Wednesday) so no reason for terrible service! Never took a drink order , had to ask twice . This place is highly overrated. Complete waste of time and money. They put a mandatory 20% service charge for service that isn't worth a dime. Disgusting business practice. If an establishment puts a mandatory service charge the service should be impeccable.

My sister and I visited this deli on June 5th - first time back in Brooklyn since 1984. We had a split potato knish with the complimentary corned beef, we shared a brisket sandwich and the pickles were to die for.

Had lunch here with a coworker and accepted suggestion to have the turkey roast sandwich with rye bread and fries - loved the amount of turkey in the sandwich (seriously around half a pound of turkey 😂 it was mainly turkey!) and the softness of the rye bread - other than that, the whole pickle appetizer was really good 🫠 I feel like maybe I should try another dish if ever back

We just made a sium/70th birthday party in the “back room” of Essen on Coney. Everything was PERFECT! The service was great (kudos to Eric & Juliani) the food outstanding! They worked with me on the menu, adding, (not even exchanging!) when we discussed the different options. Everyone who came was very impressed with how beautiful and tasteful the whole evening was. We recommend highly!

Customer Service was great, just like the food is always amazing. Really enjoy eating at Essen NY Deli. They are also very accommodating when it comes to making a last-minute reservation. They happen to be also amazing if you want to take a family photo as well while you're there.
