Wonderful! I can say the first proper Japanese restaurant I have ever tried and definitely one of my best food experience. It is a small restaurant, you...

2015-06-23 12:54:54Amazing experience! Very tasty and the chef has enhanced the natural flavors of the high quality ingredients. Classic Japanese flavors sometimes with a twist. Lovely presentation and ambiance. Very authentic and you see the chef does his own thing.
a month agoIf you like Japanese flavors, this is the place to go. All the dishes are just mind-blowing, with strong, authentic flavors and a little bit of experimentation. Chef Yamamoto is a joy to watch, taking care of every little detail of every dish. It's a must-visit, and I will surely return.
5 months agoThe experience itself was simply wonderful, Chef Yama definitely pays a lot of attention to the ingredients he buys and puts a lot of thought into his dishes/creations. He chose many local items from both the Netherlands and his home country Japan, and turned them into amazing dishes. I must say I was skeptical of a few dishes, simply because I was not used to eating them but I tried everything (even the foie gras) and I could not have been happier with my taste buds. Chef Yama is also very humble and friendly, and you can see that he loves what he is doing. The lady serving us was also very friendly and lovely. I’m very happy with my experience with Japanese Cuisine Yama.
a year agoI've been here several times. You have to make a reservation as they only have limited seating and it fills up quickly. Check their agenda on their website to plan your visit. A thing is, you can't be a too picky eater. The menu is basically a surprise menu. You can choose between 5 or 7 course menu. I always choose 7. The 5 course menu isn't less in food, but less in diversity. At the end of the meal I am fully satisfied and not extremely full, which is a good thing. The portion are small, very pleasant for the taste buds and a beautiful sight for the eye. Last course is always sushi (see photo) but the kinds of sushi may differ. They may be able to take dietary wishes into account (depending on the kind of request you have) so make sure you mention them in your reservation request. Also, you can choose to sit at the table or at the counter. I experienced both, and I recommend sitting at the counter if you want to see the food being made. I recommend table if you are with (a bigger) company and have a lot to talk about. Your reservation is only confirmed when they mail you a confirmation. The experience itself is extremely good, very friendly staff and they explain every course. Of course, it is expensive because the food is more exclusive. But very worth it. They change the menu per season. If you haven't yet, and you aren't a picky eater and love Japanese food: at least try it once ;)
5 years agoExcellent. Expensive. Quite an experience. Almost discouraging reservation procedure. But, a warm welcome. Nice, simple place. Relaxed. Friendly people, who explain all you get served. Food was wonderful. Very special, and original. Exquisite. One detail: the sushi. Makes ‘normal sushi’ really boring. It was fantastic. Any sushi place is bound to disappoint after this. Just great, our evening here.
