Wait to get in, about 15 minutes. Wait for the food after ordering, about 30 minutes. But very well worth it. The best baked fish I've had in many years. Don't expect 5 star service, but expect a unique experience in a cozy but crowded place. You may have to sit with strangers, just try to make new friends.
a year agoA small and simple place with a very long tradition of making delicious fried fish. They have only a few dishes but every single one of them is freshly made, affordable and really tasty. It's not centrally located but it's worth a visit for sure. There's also a big parking lot in front of the place.
9 months agoKind of a German version of fish’n’chips. Quite cheap, extremely good. During busy ours you’d have to wait in the street (because they don’t allow to wait inside) but it’s really worth it. On a good day, there’re several tables in the backyard. Our local friend took us to this place, had us take a train through the whole Hamburg to get there, but you know, it would’ve been worth it even if we had to walk the whole distance. No dark beer, so I’d recommend coke or glühwein depending on your mood, and then of course those fish’n’chips - main position on the menu. Large (groß) portion is actually very large, it is enough for two average people to have a nice lunch/dinner. I ate large and a half, though😄 It was so good I took a bike next day to repeat this experience. Thank god, they accept cards, payment in a lot of other German places has been a nightmare.
9 months agoIt’s very nice Fish and homemade Kartoffelsalat! It’s clearly a traditional restaurant with local people! Fair price, nice local fish!
